Last year, the RSPB asked me to help them with their Big Garden Birdwatch advertising campaign and the event is back on again this weekend, starting tomorrow 25th – 27th Jan
The TV ad has been on our screens since Boxing Day and there’s a vid on YouTube too; I feel really honoured to be part of it.
The TV ad was filmed at The Lodge, RSPB HQ, in Bedfordshire, which is a really special nature reserve and garden.
Behind the scenes….
I met up with Nikki who like me, is bird-mad, I’ve kept in touch with her since, via Instagram. We were both a bit lost for words at meeting Chris Packham!!!
I learnt so much from Chris Packham’s presenting style and approach, he’s like an artist at work and everyone was in awe.
Chris, Nikki and I had a right good chat; I slipped in, that Mull was my favourite place on the planet. Chris recommended we visit Lunga to check out the puffins there; 6 months later I did! And they were indeed A-MAZ-ING!
Now, I don’t think you’d see them on your average Big Garden Birdwatch!
Anyway, enough waffling, here’s the TV ad…..
In Jan 2019, I recorded an RSPB podcast – which again was a new experience.
Being asked about my passion for birds…..I had no problem with nerves on this occasion!

How am I going to Big Garden Bird Watch?
Me and my Dad will be doing the Big Garden Birdwatch from the comfort of the back bedroom, looking out on to our garden. We’ve topped up the bird feeders and I’ll have a nice cuppa and a notepad at hand to record the sightings.
The most important decision I’ll have to make, is what biscuits shall I have?!?!?

Lastly, my question is……..
I did my birdwatch a day early by mistake. Ooops! But I’m also going to my sister’s to join in with her’s tomorrow. Enjoy yours!

How did you go on doing the birdwatch at your sisters? Hope it was good. We did ok – think it was 11 different species in the end
