Despite Storm Brian battering most of England last weekend, I had an a-maze-ing time with presenter Lindsey and the crew from Blue Peter at York Maze.
We were there to film the North of England stage of the International Giant Pumpkin Commonwealth Competition – who knew there was such a thing
WildAboutGardens Week starts today 23rd ’til 29th October. Ran by the RHS and The Wildlife Trust they help raise awareness about the importance of gardening for wildlife!
Each year, ‘Wild About Gardens’ focus on a different type of species; last year it was all bats, this year it’s wild bees. There is a bit of information on what Wild About Gardens Week is all about and why we need to protect wildlife here
We’ve had some lovely weather up here in Manchester this weekend, I’ve had plenty of fresh air, so I thought I’d write an autumn update,
all about my new dog, how the garden grows and plans for the coming months
This week I received a copy of the RHS Campaign for School Gardening Courses for grown ups, who work with kids;
I’d been asked to write an article for it, about how gardening makes me feel free and how it can help me, when I’m feeling stressed and worried about stuff; here it is…..
This autumn the RHS Campaign for School Gardening is celebrating its 10th Birthday #WOW! The campaign has changed my life in so many ways – if it wasn’t for the RHS you probably wouldn’t be reading this blog!
So, I want to do a big shout out for their Big #SoupShare and wish them a Happy Birthday!
Over these past 2 years of blogging, I’ve had some lovely invites off schools and community groups inviting me to have a nosey at their gardens and where possible, I will always try and take people up on their kind offer.
So, right at the end of my summer holidays I went to St Luke’s Community Garden and Orchard in Leeds, to check out their garden and to take part in a morning scything workshop and afternoon herbal sessions and it was absolutely fab!
At home we garden organically, my Dad works for Organic North, so it’s safe to say we are the Organic Northerners!
In August I visited Peak Organics in Derbyshire, with my Grandma Barbara and spent a day with them as they harvested their crops ready for market.
I’ve met Matt from Hampshire Carnivorous Plants (CP) a couple of times at RHS Flower Shows and bought my first CP plants from him a few years ago.
At RHS Tatton this year, Matt invited me to his nursery, so I took him up on the offer when I was camping in The New Forest on holiday.
